Message from the Chairman
As I sit here writing this, I have it in mind that I write both as Chairman of the society and as Pete, but more so I write to the members of the society and my friends.
You will already know that we can’t hold meetings for the time being and we hope this will not be for too long. We had decided that we could not hold the next two meetings the day before Boris stopped them anyway.
I have spoken to all the members of the committee and we have made the following decisions. The first is that, as we can’t hold the AGM in May, we have agreed to put it on hold until we can hold it, and therefore the existing committee will carry on until then. We have also asked Chris Woodhouse to become publicity officer for the next year as he has the best contacts and knowledge to help in this our 50th year. This was on the agenda for the AGM, but it would have not given him time to do the job if we delayed and I hope everyone will agree with what’s been done and we will look for formal approval at the next meeting.
At this point, I would like to say that I will miss our meetings on the second Tuesday of the month and I can’t wait for all these problems to be over. Hopefully it will be soon and we can go back to normal.
In the meantime, please look after yourselves and your families, keep safe and healthy. Follow the advice of the experts and we will enjoy a lot more entertaining and educational evenings.
One final thing is that we must give a big thank you to the Kings Arms, send our best wishes that all they get through this and things can then get back to normal.
Stay well, stay safe.
